Pittsburgh Fraudster Kennedy Jailed for 9 Months

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The grimy streets of Pittsburgh are no longer home to Darryl Kennedy, 46, who has been handed a nine-month sentence for his cunning act of fraud. United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced the news today, revealing that Kennedy was convicted of making and uttering counterfeit checks.

The court heard that between September 22, 2011, and October 3, 2011, Kennedy successfully negotiated counterfeit checks, a move that saw him manipulate the financial system for his gain.

United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti imposed the harsh sentence on Kennedy, ensuring he serves his time in a federal correctional facility. Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci led the prosecution against the defendant.

This victory is one for law enforcement, with the U.S. Attorney Hickton commending the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the United States Secret Service, and the Financial Crimes Task Force of Western Pennsylvania for their relentless investigation that brought Kennedy to justice.

The sentence of time served effectively ensures that Kennedy will be behind bars for the duration of his conviction, serving as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who engage in financial crimes.

With this sentence, the Pittsburgh community can take comfort in knowing that justice has been served, and another fraudster is no longer a threat to the city’s financial integrity.
