Steven G. Dubin, Wire Fraud, PA 2024

WARMINSTER, PA – Steven G. Dubin, the 64-year-old former adoption attorney from Warminster, Pennsylvania, has been hit with three counts of wire fraud, according to Acting United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen.

The Indictment alleges that Dubin offered services to clients seeking to adopt children and, after resigning from the Pennsylvania bar, failed to disclose his impending disbarment to some clients and potential clients. Despite being legally barred from accepting new fees, Dubin is accused of continuing to collect money for legal representation.

Upon termination, Dubin falsely assured clients that he would return their remaining retainer fees, which he claimed were held in escrow. In certain instances, Dubin never returned any money. The Indictment paints a picture of a man who allegedly deceived and exploited vulnerable families seeking to grow their families through adoption.

Should Dubin be convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison, three years of supervised release, a $750,000 fine, and a $300 special assessment. The charges represent a severe blow to the once-respected legal professional.

The investigation into Dubin’s alleged misconduct was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Office of Disciplinary Counsel. Assistant United States Attorney Vineet Gauri is handling the prosecution.

As this case unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some individuals will go to exploit the vulnerable in their quest for personal gain. The grim reality of Dubin’s alleged actions underscores the importance of integrity and accountability within the legal profession.
