Eddy Alexandre, Cryptocurrency Fraud, New York 2024

New York City, NY – A high-flying CEO has been brought down by the Southern District of New York’s aggressive stance against financial chicanery. Eddy Alexandre, at the helm of the shadowy EminiFX trading platform, has copped to a multi-million-dollar cryptocurrency fraud that spanned over $240 million.

According to United States Attorney Damian Williams, Alexandre’s scheme was nothing short of brazen. He promised investors weekly returns of 5%, only to pocket their funds for personal gain. The Valley Stream resident not only failed to invest the majority of the money he solicited but also siphoned off at least $14.7 million into his own bank account.

Under the guise of a “trade secret,” Alexandre convinced tens of thousands of investors that EminiFX was their ticket to financial freedom. But behind the sleek facade, there was no magic formula; just a web of lies and deceit that left many investor’s life savings in ruins.

The real truth? EminiFX did not earn 5% weekly returns for its investors. Alexandre sustained massive losses on the funds he did invest, which he conveniently omitted from his pitch. Despite this, he continued to mislead investors about their earnings, falsely reporting at least 5% weekly gains on the platform’s website.

Alexandre’s fall from grace is complete as he now faces up to ten years in prison for commodities fraud. Sentencing before Judge John P. Cronan is scheduled for July 12, 2023, where the full brunt of justice will be meted out for this white-collar crime.

The Southern District of New York has made it clear that financial predators like Alexandre will be held accountable. Williams praised the investigative efforts of the FBI and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which launched a parallel civil action against EminiFX. This case serves as a stark reminder to would-be scammers: The crypto markets are under watch.
