Johnstown Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Trafficking Fentanyl, Heroin, Meth, Coke, Crack

Dwight Logan, a 44-year-old man from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 144 months in federal prison for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking operation.

Logan was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Logan conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine base in the form commonly known as crack, and a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of heroin.

The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and Homeland Security Investigations, revealed that Logan was intercepted on a federal wiretap obtaining quantities of the drugs that he distributed to others. Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

Logan’s sentence was imposed by United States Senior District Judge Kim R. Gibson. The prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which targets high-level drug traffickers and money launderers using a multi-agency approach.

Logan will serve 144 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release. The sentence was announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan, who commended the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. Additional agencies participating in the investigation included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, United States Postal Inspection Service, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania State Police, Cambria County District Attorney’s Office, Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, Cambria County Sheriff’s Office, Cambria Township Police Department, Indiana Borough Police Department, Johnstown Police Department, Upper Yoder Township Police Department, Richland Police Department, Ferndale Police Department, and other local law enforcement agencies.

The OCDETF investigation has disrupted and dismantled several high-level drug trafficking organizations in the region. This case is an example of the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the scourge of opioid and other drug trafficking in Pennsylvania.

Logan’s sentence sends a clear message that those involved in large-scale drug trafficking will be held accountable for their actions. The Grimy Times will continue to cover this and other cases involving organized crime and drug trafficking in the region.
