Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty to a-PVP Possession
BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a crushing blow to Western New York’s underworld, Carlo D’Angelo, 45, of Buffalo, NY, caved to the pressure and pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute alpha-pyrrolidinopentiophenone (a-PVP) in a federal court.
U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the news, which comes after months of intense investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). D’Angelo’s plea marks a significant victory for the DEA, who had been hot on his trail since May 2021.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright, D’Angelo was found to possess approximately 6.1 grams of a-PVP when he was located at a hotel in Amherst, NY. This stash was accompanied by glass pipes with burnt residue, multiple plastic containers consistent with the manufacture of a-PVP, and a whopping $5,100.00 in cash, all proceeds from his illicit activities.
D’Angelo’s guilty plea comes with a steep price: up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000. The maximum penalty is a stark reminder of the severity of the crime and the consequences of getting caught.
The DEA, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarantino, III, New York Field Division, deserves credit for their tireless efforts in bringing D’Angelo to justice. Their dedication to keeping our streets safe is a testament to the importance of their work.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 9, 2024, before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. As the wheels of justice turn, one thing is clear: D’Angelo’s guilty plea marks a major blow to the a-PVP trade in Western New York, and it’s a reminder that no one is above the law.
