Newark, NJ – The streets are a little safer after Brooklyn’s Juan De La Cruz Infante Torres, a.k.a. the Narc Boss, was sentenced to over four years in prison for his involvement in a massive fentanyl distribution conspiracy.
Infante Torres, aged 52, pleaded guilty on June 14, 2023, before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, as well as possessing with intent to distribute the deadly drug.
The judge imposed a sentence of 57 months in federal prison for Infante Torres, who was apprehended with fellow conspirator Billy Castro while attempting to sell nearly 4 kilograms of fentanyl in Clifton, New Jersey. Castro has also pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.
Infante Torres’s crime spree began in May and June 2021 when he conspired with Castro and others to distribute large quantities of the lethal substance. On June 15, 2021, their scheme came to a halt when law enforcement agents intercepted them during a sale attempt in Clifton. A subsequent search of Castro’s Queens apartment uncovered an additional two kilograms of fentanyl.
In addition to his prison term, Infante Torres was sentenced to two years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger praised the efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies in their investigation and apprehension of Infante Torres, including the FBI, IRS-CI, U.S. Postal Service OIG, and USPIS. The case is a part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which targets high-level criminal organizations. For more information on OCDETF, visit here.
Infante Torres will be represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mark J. Pesce and Aja Espinosa of the Economic Crimes Unit in Newark during his legal proceedings.
