Clement Leach, Bank Robbery, Louisiana 2020

A brazen bank heist has landed New Orleans resident CLEMENT LEACH, age 54, behind bars. LEACH pleaded guilty to Bank Robbery, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a), and was sentenced on July 2, 2025.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, LEACH robbed Chase Bank on March 2, 2020, making off with a substantial amount of cash. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Task Force and officers of the New Orleans Police Department worked tirelessly to apprehend LEACH and bring him to justice.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the sentencing, praising the efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved. United States District Judge Sarah S. Vance handed down the sentence, which includes 80 months of imprisonment, 3 years of supervised release following his release from prison, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

LEACH was also ordered to pay $920 in restitution for his role in the bank robbery. The sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of committing such a serious crime. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jon M. Maestri of the General Crimes Unit handled the prosecution, ensuring that justice was served.

The bank robbery was a disturbing crime that put the lives of innocent people at risk. The fact that LEACH pleaded guilty and accepted responsibility for his actions is a step in the right direction, but it does not diminish the severity of the crime. The community can rest a little easier knowing that LEACH is off the streets and will be held accountable for his actions.

The sentencing of CLEMENT LEACH serves as a warning to would-be criminals that the justice system will not tolerate such blatant disregard for the law. As the city of New Orleans continues to grapple with crime, the work of law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Attorney’s office is more important than ever. The people of New Orleans deserve to feel safe, and it is the duty of law enforcement to protect them from harm.

In a city plagued by crime, the sentencing of CLEMENT LEACH is a small victory for justice. However, there is still much work to be done to address the root causes of crime and to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. The U.S. Attorney’s office and law enforcement agencies must continue to work together to build a safer, more just community for all.
