Texas Drug Kingpin Jorge Guerrero Convicted in Major Cocaine Case

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – In a stunning turn of events, Jorge Luis Guerrero, the alleged drug kingpin from Socorro, Texas, has been found guilty by a federal jury in Pittsburgh of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

The jury, after a grueling five-and-a-half-hour deliberation following a six-day trial, returned its verdict on July 29, 2025. Guerrero, now aged 39, faced Senior United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti, who presided over the trial.

According to court documents, Guerrero masterminded the transport of five kilograms of cocaine into the Western District of Pennsylvania. The drug was cunningly concealed in a secret compartment within the bumper of a vehicle registered to his wife. Removal of the entire bumper and additional metal plates were required to access the illegal substance.

Judge Conti has set sentencing for December 10, 2025. Guerrero now faces a potential sentence ranging from at least five years to up to 40 years in federal prison. Additionally, he could be slammed with a fine of up to $5 million or both, depending on his prior criminal history and the severity of the offense.

Assistant United States Attorneys Robert C. Schupansky and V. Joseph Sonson led the prosecution effort on behalf of the United States government. The trial was supported by agents and task force officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Socorro Police Department, United States Customs and Border Protection, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.

Guerrero’s conviction marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region, sending a strong message to those who would dare traffic drugs in Pennsylvania.
