Raven Michelle Volkomener, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Montana 2024

GREAT FALLS – Raven Michelle Volkomener, a 43-year-old Billings woman, has admitted her guilt in a methamphetamine trafficking case that has sent shockwaves through the community. U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme announced today that Volkomener pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, on May 4, 2024, law enforcement received reports of an erratic vehicle driving south towards Billings on Highway 87. Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) identified the vehicle and pulled it over, subsequently discovering four packages of suspected methamphetamine in Volkomener’s car.

The meth was later analyzed to contain over 1,700 grams of pure meth. Law enforcement also obtained a search warrant for Volkomener’s cell phone, where they found text messages indicating her involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Volkomener faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment and a $10 million fine, with at least five years of supervised release following her sentence. Sentencing is scheduled for December 17, 2025, before Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeff Starnes and Zeno Baucus prosecuted the case, which was conducted by the Montana Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Montana Department of Criminal Investigations. This investigation is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations.

Volkomener remains detained pending further proceedings.
