⏱ 2 min read

A Sioux Falls woman became the latest low-level player to get caught up in the national opioid crisis when she was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for running a methamphetamine ring in the city.

Alysia Peneaux, 32, admitted to serving as a sub-distributor for a California- and Nevada-based drug trafficking organization that brought large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl from the West Coast to South Dakota.

Between 2024, Peneaux purchased methamphetamine from the organization and then re-sold it to others in the Sioux Falls area. She also allowed members of the trafficking organization to store bulk quantities of drugs at her residence, a stash house.

According to court documents, Peneaux personally distributed more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.
