A St. Paul man has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger.
Ember Shawndale White, 23, was found in possession of a Beretta APX 9x19mm pistol on July 23, 2021, in Ramsey, Hennepin, and Dakota Counties. Because White has multiple prior felony convictions, he is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition at any time.
White pleaded guilty yesterday to one count of possessing a firearm as a felon in U.S. District Court before Judge Joan N. Ericksen.
This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the St. Paul Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew S. Ebert is prosecuting the case.
According to federal law, White is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition at any time due to his multiple prior felony convictions. His guilty plea to one count of possessing a firearm as a felon is a serious offense and will likely result in severe punishment.
The investigation into White’s firearm possession is a prime example of the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat gun violence and keep communities safe.
White’s case will be sentenced at a later date. The exact date and details of his sentencing will be announced by the court.
